In this book we follow a boy named Alejo, him and his friends have nothing going on for them so they do bad things just to have fun or get money etc. We also see some of the issues that are happening in the city, like boys getting raped by older men, mothers selling their children to get the money they need to survive. A part of this too is how awful some people are with others. One example Alejo says "My mother is selling my little cousin you know?" That means Alejo's mother sold her first child to get money for food and pretty much no one cares with that kind of thing. We also see how fast life can be taken away with just one wrong move without even realising it, even if it's just with your friends or family. This book shows an amazing character called Consolacion, she might look like a normal girl but she's so much more than that. She's very brave and determined and once she meets Alejo her life changes. She accepts all of herself and for the first time, finally starts to live. She gives everything to be free from everything including Alejo who is starting to realise things about her too without realising it himself. Alejo thinks he knows everything about his life but in this book we find out that is not true at all. Aljo is a 16 year old boy that lives in Mexico City in a poor house with his parents and an older sister. He knows nothing about his past, and is searching for a girl he never knew (Consolacion) he loves and hopefully will marry. He meets Consolacion at a party and they start talking. One day, the two of them escape to the mountains, but things go wrong and Consolacion's mother catches her. Now we see Alejo on another journey to find out what happened that night, but it goes wrong too and he loses his friend.
