Kusumagraj Kavita is a Sanskrit poem by the renowned poet Kalidasa. This wonderful work is about the story of Kusumagraj, who was born in poverty but found his true calling as an artist. His painting captured the beauty and majesty of nature, leading him to become one of India's greatest poets. Despite its age, Kusumagraj kavita is still relevant today, inspiring artists and retelling the tale through different media. This work in verse is considered to be the world's first epic work in Sanskrit, being composed over a span of nineteen years. Kusumagraj kavita is filled with references to nature and the stages in the life of an artist, poet, and musician. The story focuses on Kusumagraj who lives in poverty until he discovers his calling as an artist, painting pictures of the beauty of nature. When he paints a bird with its wings spread wide open before it flies off, he falls into divine possession. To help him paint more exquisite pictures, god Shiva appears to him in his dreams every night. Kusumagraj kavita opens with the poet Kalidasa sitting under a tree writing his work. Though he lived in great comfort, he was not happy. His work did not win him praise and fame, but rather just poverty. He has to work hard every day picking up manure for his cow and bagging vegetables for food. One day, while working in the field, he was struck by inspiration to produce great art pieces. He worked hard to capture the beauty of nature in his poetry and paintings, whose value went beyond mere material wealth. After many years, he achieved success as an artist. He was hired to do portraits of kings and kings' wives and was granted a large estate for himself and his family. His work and fame began to spread, but his fame soon turned into frustration as all of his work was stolen. The thieves avoided him rather than him them because he had started writing epics that were considered sacred. He reminded the people that stealing his work would earn them the wrath of god Shiva through nightmares, just as stealing the food from a cow earns its owner bad luck. When all of his work was stolen, he decided to do penance in the forest so that Shiva would grant him with success. Kalidasa is considered one of the most renowned poets in Sanskrit literature. His most famous works include Meghadutam and Ritusamhara. Many scholars attribute his fame to that he was a true innovator, composing great works in poetry and drama even before forms such as poetry and drama had been conceived. Kalidasa also contributed greatly to Sanskrit grammar and language, becoming one of the pioneers of Sanskrit linguistics. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GqXkCSp5rE https://www.youtube. cfa1e77820
